The Indians finally recorded their first win of 2009 getting past Toronto 8-4 on Easter Sunday. Mark DeRosa’s bat seems to be coming to life as he homered for The Tribe. Travis Hafner also went yard to keep his hot start in tact. The highlight of the day for Indians fans had to be the pitching of Anthony Reyes.
Reyes worked six good innings for Cleveland, the longest any starter has lasted so far this season, en route to his first victory. Reyes surrenders 4 runs on just three hits. Kerry Wood struck out the side to pitch a perfect ninth in relief.
The Indians need to stay on task and win a few in a row to feel like the good team they can be. Kansas City is the new target as Cleveland opens a three game series with the Royals tonight.
