DLF News and Notes

Hey everyone, if you’ll let me indulge, I have a few Deep Left Field news tidbits.

First, there should be a new poll in the lower right sidebar of the site. I say should because it hasn’t loaded yet, but eventually it should be up. The question is, “How many Indians will Stephen Strasburg strike out on Sunday?” For those who don’t know, Strasburg dazzled in his debut, fanning 14 and allowing just four hits (although one was a two-run homer) with no walks. That gets me fired up for Sunday’s game. The poll closes Sunday. Feel free to leave a comment with your prediction!

Next, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been invited to the Tribe Social Deck for Sunday’s game at beautiful Progressive Field, located in the left field bleachers ( deep left field, where else?). For those who don’t know, the Tribe Social Deck is a new section of the ballpark, with several power outlets and a wi-fi connection. It’s basically a blogger’s haven, and everyone at the Indians that I have talked to assures me the Indians will not try to censor anything written while in the Social Deck. The Indians have been trying to get me in there for a little while, and our schedules finally clicked for Sunday’s game. I haven’t totally decided what I’m going to do for the post, but I will definitely be actually tweeting and will probably have a live chat running in case anyone wants to drop in and say hi (assuming you aren’t at the game too!).

I’ve also been invited to an internet radio show Sunday night, but their site seems to be experiencing technical difficulties so you’ll have to hang tight for the details on that one.

Finally, in actual Indians news, Mark Grudzielanek has been designated for assignment, meaning I will probably never have to type “Grudzielanek” again after today. Grudzielanek had 30 hits in 110 ABs, and amazingly they were all singles. The Indians purchased the contract of INF Anderson Hernandez from AAA Columbus to replace him.
