Indians Go Up Against Historically Bad JoJo Reyes

The Indians open a three game series in Toronto on Monday, and will go up against JoJo Reyes of the Blue Jays. Looking at Reyes’ record this season, 0-4, does not explain how bad his record has been over the last few seasons.

After his loss on Wednesday, not only did he become 0-4 on the season, but he also stretched his games pitched without a win streak to 28. His last win came in 2008, when he pitched for the Braves.

Many would see this record and wonder why Reyes is not in the minors, but he is not doing all that bad. In 10 starts this season, he has 6 no decisions. His last ND came on May 20th against the Astros, when he allowed no runs in 7 strong innings. He was on his way to his first win in nearly 3 years when the Jays bullpen allowed 5 runs in the last two innings.

It is tough to break a streak when your bullpen ruins good outings, but Reyes just needs to stay focused. He is gaining negative publicity for his winless streak, but he knows that he is not doing all that bad. His ERA is 4.70 on the season and he is giving his team a chance to win in many of his appearances. He just needs some support from the offense and his bullpen, and he should win a game in no time. I just hope that he waits at least one more start to break his streak.
