Asdrubal Cabrera and Chris Perez Selected to All-Star Game

The All-Star selection show aired just over an hour ago, and there were few surprises with the selections. As always, the Yankees and Red Sox combine for most of the American League starting lineup with 6 players.

One of these players is shortstop Derek Jeter, who got the starting spot over Asdrubal Cabrera. This was expected, as Jeter is a living legend and is approaching 3,000 hits. However, Asdrubal was still selected as a backup, which is better for him because he will be in the game at the end.

It is Asdrubal’s first career All-Star game appearance, so I’m sure that he does not mind being Jeter’s backup.

The other Indian selected to the team is closer Chris Perez. He has recorded 19 saves on the year, while only blowing one. He is the face of the Indians great bullpen, and is very worthy of this selection.
