As I see it, the rest of the Indians lineup seemed to feed off Asdrubal's hot start. The first few months of the season, AC was on fire and the Indians were rolling. The 2011 Indians were able to get the town talking (a little bit) and at least started to get people excited about the Tribe again. Without AC's hot start, the offense probably fizzles, we lose a bunch of 2-0, 1-0 games (which started to happen later in the season) and we never get to sniff first place, let alone go into the All-Star break with legitimate playoff hopes. (Ok, i know, we had a ton of injuries late) I really credit Cabrera for making the offense go in the early part of the season. He maintained well and is deserving of his Silver Slugger. For those reasons, he's still my team MVP.

P.S. You make a great case for Masterson, and I LOVE Masterson. However, "Nasty Masty" just showed me a progression of what I've always thought him to be; a top of the rotation pitcher. (I know one of your writers used to think he belonged in the bullpen, but I've always been sold on him as a starter.) I can't wait to see what Masterson does in 2012, but for his everyday work I still give Asdrubal my 2011 team MVP.
