Michael Brantley continues to prove to us all that the C.C. Sabathia trade had a hand in the Tribe’s future even with the resounding failure of Matt LaPorta. With the added boost of his father, Mickey Brantley, in the seats on Sunday, Michael gave a spectacular performance. His 4 RBIs accounted for two thirds of Cleveland’s runs against former Cy Young Award Winner Felix Hernandez, continuing the Tribe’s mangling of that elite class of pitchers. His three-run shot in the second blew the game open to 5-0, and the performance raised his overall slash line to .301/.357/.392. Brantley is threatening enough to intimidate any pitcher on the mound, and is sure to be a bright part of the new era of the Cleveland Indians.
