Clevelinks, October 4: Uncertainty Ahead for Several Indians

With the 2013 season finally over, the Indians have to begin the long and painful process of reviewing the 2013 roster and determining who should be back in 2014 and who should hit the road. We can debate any number of players we may or may not want back, but one thing is certain. Three players that played key roles in the Indians’ 2013 success have uncertain futures ahead of them. That’s where we’ll begin today’s latest edition of Clevelinks.

They need to try their best to resign Jimenez and Kazmir.
Giambi needs to realize his hitting days are over and accept a job as Hitting Coach for Indians. He would do far more good being a coach than a player.
Trade Cabrera and Perez. I would also move Carasco, Hagadone and Hill.
If they aren’t letting in other pitchers runners, they give up too many of their own runs. A couple dependable pitchers in the pen and 2 or 3 good bats should put them back in World Series next year. Santana needs to be out of cleanup spot.
He is not a cleanup hitter who will hit homeruns and drive in 100 rbi’s. He is also a liability defensively. I would use him more as a DH. Gomes is by far the better catcher and Swisher is a much better first baseman.
