Terry Francona’s Enthusiasm is Infectious
Indians manager Terry Francona was named the American League Manager of the Year earlier this week. The award was much warranted after Francona helped turn the Indians into a 92 game winner one year after losing 94 games. It tied the 1986 Indians for the best single season turnaround in franchise history. After winning the award, Francona was everywhere talking about what it meant to win the award and how much he is enjoying his time with the Cleveland Indians.
Below is a snippet of an interview Terry Francona had with MLB.com after he won the award. Two things jump out. First is Francona’s enthusiasm for what he is doing and how much he enjoys being in Cleveland. The second is how motivated he seems to be about improving the Indians in 2014 and getting to the top of the baseball world. People often argue how much of a difference a manager makes throughout the course of the season, but based on the results of 2013 and listening to Terry Francona talk it’s apparent that he means all the difference in the world.
