Indians Announce Spring Training Schedule

On Friday, the Cleveland Indians released their Spring training schedule. That means, the countdown can officially begin. With 81 days between now and the official start of Spring Training, fans who are fortunate enough to make the trek to Goodyear, Arizona can start making their plans.

Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to Goodyear on February 11 wirh their first official work out taking place two days later on February 13. Position players will have to report by February 15 with the first full team workout taking place on February 17. They will participate in 30 Cactus League games split evenly between home and road. However, they will play 18 games at Goodyear Ballpark. They currently share the facility with the Reds meaning there will be a few days where no travel will be required.

In addition to their 30 Cactus League games, the Indians will also play two exhibition games against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park as a trial run for when the sesson starts. Speaking of which, the Indians will start the season in Oakland to battle the A’s in a three game set before heading back to Cleveland for their own Opening Day on April 4. The home portiin of the schedule this season will kick off with a three game set against the Minnesota Twins.
