The Cleveland Indians defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3 on Friday evening to improve their record to 17-19.

Corey Kluber:

Turn Around For Kluber:  Is 2-1 with a 1.91 ERA (28.1IP/6ER) and 38 strikeouts over his last four starts compared to 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA (23.1ip/14er) and 19 strikeouts in his first four starts.

Impeccable Control: Did not issue a walk for the fourth start this season which leads the American League and trails only Tim Hudson who has five starts without issuing a walk.

Road Woes Over?: Recorded first road win of the season and first since September 27, 2013 versus the Minnesota Twins.  He entered last nights game with a 0-2 record and a 5.87 ERA in three previous road starts to open the 2014 season.

Finally, AL East Victory: Recorded his first career victory against an AL East team. In his previous seven appearances (six starts) he was 0-4 with a 5.86 ERA.

Terry Francona & The Cleveland Indians:

Power Spike: The Tribe tied their season high belting three home runs (also on April 12th versus White Sox). They have hit five home runs in their last two games after only hitting five in their previous seven games.

Five Run Innings: The five run seventh against the Rays was the Tribe’s first five plus run inning since September 14th of last season in the fourth inning against the White Sox.

Starting Pitching Solid: In their last seven games Tribe starters are 4-0 with a 1.69 ERA (48IP/9ER) and have recorded 54 strikeouts.

Michael Brantley Hot: Has a nine game hitting streak and is batting .368 (14 for 38) with three home runs and 11 RBI in that span. In the last 10 seasons dating back to 2005 only Mark Reynolds (32) in 2013 and Travis Hafner (32) in 2006 have more RBIs through the teams first 36 game than Brantley’s 30.
