Zach McAllister hoped to extend the Indians starting staff string of consecutive quality starts to eight in a row but was unable to provide either the innings or hold the Rays off the scoreboard resulting in an exit after just 4.2 innings of work and trailing 5-0.

The Rays Erik Bedard played the role of the crafty lefty and held the Rays scoreless on just one hit through six innings before giving way to Juan Carlos Oviedo who worked two scoreless frams. The Tribe put  a run on the board in the top of the ninth against Rays closer Grant Balfour who was making his first outing since May 4th.

After the game Terry Francona spoke about McAllister’s outing and if he is concerned with the struggles the offense is having against left handed pitchers.

Zach  McAllister spoke about what he has to do to avoid outings like he had Saturday night against the Rays.
