Cleveland Indians Place Swisher, Murphy on DL, Call Up Zach Walters, Holt

As was anticipated last night, the Cleveland Indians placed Nick Swisher and David Murphy on the 15-day DL:

That’s Tyler Holt making another stint to Cleveland, and newly acquired Zach Walters getting the call up. Walters, acquired by the Indians at the deadline in the Asdrubal Cabrera trade, will also make the start today in left. He’s primarily an infielder, but the Indians are confident he can handle the outfield, especially with Michael Brantley hobbling as of late. Walters has been hitting well in the 10 days since the trade.’s Jordan Bastian said Murphy will undergo an MRI on his side on Monday, while Swisher will have his knee checked out sometime this week. Murphy had hit well against his former team, the Texas Rangers, last week, including a game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth here:

Walters has some pop in his bat as well, and it’s been on display since the trade.

Walters had two home runs in one game for AAA Columbus last week, including a grand slam:
