Colin McHugh Dominates Indians

With fourteen games to go in the 2014 season, the Cleveland Indians headed south after a sobering series with the Motor City Kitties to face the young but improved Houston Astros.  Zach McAllister, making a spot start due to the rainout from late last week, took the mound as a starter for the first time since a forgettable 3 2/3 innings against the Mariners in late July.  Astros starting pitcher, Colin McHugh, came into the game with eight consecutive games of not allowing more than two runs (six Houston wins).

The Positives

McAllister provided the Indians with a chance to win despite taking the loss.  Outside of another multi-hit game from Michael Brantley, there was not a lot to get riled up about as the Indians continued their slide down the standings.

The Negatives: The Indians were unable to work into many friendly counts as they fell victim to Colin McHugh’s hot streak that has seen him now strike out 25 batters while walking none over his last four starts that has spanned 29 1/3 innings.  Colin McHugh left the game in the 7th inning with a forearm injury.
