How Long Can Jose Ramirez Hold Francisco Lindor Back?

More from Cleveland Guardians Prospects

In advance of releasing the Top 100 Prospects in Baseball this Friday Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com introduces a Top 10 prospects at each position list.  The Top 100 list will be revealed on Friday with the Top 50 airing on MLB Network at 9 p.m. EST.

Thus far the Indians have been shutout on the right handed and left handed pitching, catcher, second base, and third base but the team landed two players (Jesus Aguilar and Bobby Bradley) on the first base list.

Not surprisingly Indians top prospect Francisco Lindor was named on the Top 10 Shortstop List checking in as the second ranked prospect.

"Lindor is ready to play shortstop defensively right now in the big leagues. That’s never been in question. The No. 8 pick in the 2011 Draft has continued to develop his offensive game and the switch-hitter profiles as much more than just a glove. His makeup and leadership are off the charts. Look for him to bring all of that to Cleveland very soon."

Lindor spent the majority of the 2014 season with the Indians Double-A affiliate Akron RubberDucks where he appeared in 88 games posting a slash line of .278/.352/.389 while adding 25 stolen bases. He was promoted to the Tribes Triple-A affiliate Columbus Clippers where he appeared in 38 games and struggled some hitting .273/.308/.388 spanning 180 plate appearances.

He will open the 2015 season with the Clippers as he works to finish polishing off his offense as Jose Ramirez mans shortstop for the Tribe. One exciting part of the 2015 season will be to see how Lindor develops, how long Jose Ramirez can hold him off, and how everything shakes out when Lindor joins the club.
