Clevelinks: Cleveland Indians High Leverage Relievers and Bauer’s Drone Grounded

The debate over whether or not the Cleveland Indians should sign K-Rod has reached new heights, and Trevor Bauer’s drone has been grounded by MLB

With the regular season rapidly approaching, most free agents have been scooped up, but a few stragglers remain. These players face a difficult decision: how important is playing compared to salary? We have seen players such as Michael Bourn sign a relatively meager contract – if $48 million can be considered meager – compared to the one for which they initially looked. To make matters even more complicated, many teams either have their rosters decided or have a few minor decisions to make, and the Cleveland Indians are no exception.

The Cleveland Indians have a solid bullpen, but Francisco Rodriguez is still a free agent. Rodriguez has the appeal of adding to an already strong ‘pen; however, the real allure to signing him is the potential to keep Cody Allen more cost-effective for longer, as arbitration overvalues the save. On the other hand, Rodriguez also has some concerning signs. Kyle Downing and Matthew Bretz debate the possibility in this week’s Yo Bro/ No Bro.

In other news, Trevor Bauer got some attention for building his own drone. He took said drone to Spring Training in Goodyear, Arizona, and he proceeded to take some beautiful pictures of the Spring Training complex. While flying a drone around is fun and all, MLB made Bauer retire his drone, at least from Spring Training. Why you ask? Because there is an airstrip behind the ballpark, and planes and small flying cameras tend to not get along. Bauer cooperated well, even going as far as joking over whether or not the no-drone rule could be named after him.
