Clevelinks: Indians’ Routed By The Reds; Tribes Strength Is Their Biggest Question Mark

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona has said many times, it’s not about the stats and the scores in Spring Training, but the reps and evaluation. That’s good, because the 10-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds was one we don’t want it to be about. Zach McAllister made a solid debut, albeit a brief one of just two innings. The Tribe will play the Reds again today, with Josh Tomlin and T.J. House scheduled to pitch today.

The Indians rotation has a lot of positives going for it coming into the 2015 season. But there’s still many question marks on a staff that is unproven over time. With only one true “veteran” on the staff in Gavin Floyd – and he’s pitched in only nine games the last two seasons – The Indians are relying on talented but inexperienced arm to lead them this season. Can they all come through for Tito?

The Detroit Tigers got off to a quick start in Grapefruit League action with a 15-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Yoenis Cespedes delivered one of the biggest blows with a grand slam in the fourth. Cespedes, acquired from the Red Sox in the offseason, wasted no time making an impression. The two teams will play again today.
