Clevelinks: Cleveland Indians Fall to the White Sox; Tomlin Optioned, Rotation Set

The Cleveland Indians fell to the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon 4-1, but it appears T.J. House was getting a tune-up instead of fighting for a spot in the rotation. House pitched a respectable game, allowing four runs over six innings. After starting 18 games last season, it appears he can now pencil himself in thanks to a few moves by the Indians.

The Indians optioned Josh Tomlin to Triple-A, while Terry Francona also announced that Zach McAllister would start the home opener for the Tribe. The biggest question of the spring–the rotation–is now set. Tomlin struggled a bit in camp while battling a few nagging issues, and in the end couldn’t seize a spot. Danny Salazar was optioned earlier in the week after he failed to impress as well.

In other news from around the league, the Seattle Mariners Taijuan Walker locked up the final spot in the M’s rotation with a fantastic spring. He’s pitched 18 scoreless innings, struck out 19, while walking only four. If the young man has solved his control issues, seattle is looking to have a formidable pitching staff to send to the mound.
