Cleveland Indians fill out Opening Day roster with RHP Austin Adams

The uncertainty surrounding the final man on the Cleveland Indians’ Opening Day roster has concluded.

The run down on the players assignments who were the favorites for the major league roster was announced by the Cleveland Indians earlier today.
With the addition of Austin Adams as another relief option for manager Terry Francona, the bullpen is now even deeper with talent and options. The bullpen is expected to be filled with many arms all season, as Francona prefers to have more options than most teams for various reasons. Adams won two games with 10 strikeouts in nine spring training appearances.

What did not do any favors for Jesus Aguilar is that he is a designated hitter/first baseman. The team already has Nick Swisher, Brandon Moss, and Carlos Santana playing those positions, so the best option should be Triple-A so Aguilar can play everyday. He is a talented younger hitter, so he will have his time in Cleveland again, after enjoy a small sample of the big leagues in 2014. Aguilar batted .381 this spring.

After Zach Walters heals from an oblique injury in the minors, he will be able to continue to work around the diamond and at the plate. Walters was only able to play in seven spring training games prior getting injured. He, however, does have major league experience with Cleveland in the second half of last season after being acquired from Washington. With his skills and the ability to play a little bit of everything, he is a talented player who ideally should come up later in the season.

Paul Hoynes of the Northeast Ohio Media Group tweeted about Michael Martinez‘s future, giving more details regarding where he will go next. Martinez is in his first season with Cleveland’s organization. I would expect him to be a staple in the Columbus lineup this season due to his versatility playing the outfield, and mainly the shortstop and second base positions in the infield.

There are four days left until Opening Day is here, Cleveland fans, so let the excitement sink in even more!
