Gamesided simulates 2015 season using MLB 15 The Show on PS4

Our friends over at Gamesided recently simulate the 2015 Major League season using MLB 15 The Show for Playstation 4. If you aren’t familiar with the game, it stands as one of the best–and few baseball games around. It’s dominance in the industry eventually pushed the MLB2K series to close up shop. Now, all that’s left is The Show, and the newly rebooted RBI Baseball .

It’s focus on realistic graphics, nuances of the game and in-depth player ratings–it always makes for a fun bit of conversation when it comes to simulations. It’s an imperfect science, as the rosters can only be correct from the start, and the simulation takes over from there. So without further ado, we give you the results of Gamesided’s simulation.

AL Central Results

Steady yourself Cleveland Indians’ fans. The Show has big expectations for this year’s Tribe. In fact, if you happen to miss a game, it’s a good likelihood you’ll be missing an Indians victory. Kansas City had their chance. Detroit’s reign is over. And the White Sox and their big spending offseason?Pffft. This is the Indians year in the Central.

The Tribe finished the simulation with the best record in the league. Let that soak in for a bit. Pitching was the highlight for the Indians, but not Corey Kluber, as you might expect. It was instead Trevor Bauer, who posted a 3.06 ERA, 158 strikeouts, 64 walks with a 1.32 WHIP.

Kluber fared well, with 3.60 ERA, 132 K’s and just 26 walks in 147 IP. Now, at the time of the simulation–virtual Kluber had not signed his new deal either. So he may have posted better numbers with the new deal. Strictly speculation.

Danny Salazar, who was optioned to Triple-A this season didn’t make an impact in the simulation either, as he was injured after his fourth start.

Yan Gomes turned out to be a bigger breakout star than last year. Can you break out twice? Well, he did. 22 home runs, 62 RBI, .763 OPS and just double-digits in strikeouts helped to aid his glove. Carlos Santana was solid at the plate, posting a .521 slugging percentage and OBP of .384. But it was newly acquired Brandon Moss who led the Tribe’s offensive charge with 29 home runs.

Things are looking good in Cleveland.

2015 Postseason

After winning the Wild Card game, the Tigers would have to play the Indians in the Divisional Series. The Tribe quickly dispatched the Tigers with a three-game sweep, moving on to the ALCS to take on the Boston Red Sox, who topped the Athletics 3 games to 2.

The Tribe and Red Sox took it to the seventh game, but it was the Red Sox who walked away with the AL Pennant. The dream of returning to the World Series will have to wait…even in the virtual world.

The Boston Red Sox would go on to win the 2015 MLB World Series 4-1 against the Washington Nationals.

Yes, that’s right, the Red Sox win it all again. Hanley Ramirez was your postseason MVP, sporting a .422 average, 6 home runs and 20 RBI. The World Series MVP trophy was handed to David Ortiz, who batted .526, hit four dingers and smacked in 11 RBI.

I guess money can buy happiness.
