Carrasco injured; Tribe 0-4 at home

Damn you Sports Illustrated. Okay, maybe it’s not a cover curse but things aren’t exactly off to a great start to make Cleveland Indians’ fans think otherwise. The Tribe offense was non-existent in the 4-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox, but it was

Carlos Carrasco

‘s injury that was front and center of yesterday’s game.

Carrasco took a line drive off the bat of Melky Cabrera to the jaw, sending him sprawling to the turf. He laid there for several minutes before being carted off the field after getting up on his own power. It appears Carrasco avoided any serious injury, but if he’ll miss any time is yet to be determined. The once deep Tribe rotation has slimmed greatly since Spring Training.

Prior to the game and Carrasco’s injury, the Indians were making roster moves in regards to the pitching staff. Shaun Marcum was DFA’d to make room for catcher Brett Hayes on the 25 and 40-man rosters. The Tribe then signed Jhoulys Chacin to a minor league deal. At this rate, they may need both of them.

Our Cody Allen continues ranking players at each position in the AL Central, now on to left field (another sensitive area with Michael Brantley‘s back issues). The position holds some of the best players in the division, with names like Brantley, Yoenis Cespedes, Alex Gordon and Melky Cabrera. Who tops our list?

Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies is one of–if not the best–third baseman in baseball. The Rawlings may have started engraving his name on this year’s Gold Glove after the catch he made against the Giants in last night’s contest. You have to to check it out, it’s worth a look.
