Clevelinks: Cleveland Indians Struggle To Score Again in Loss to Tigers

This House is not a home as T.J. struggles again

The Cleveland Indians managed to push across a run on Saturday, but it wasn’t near enough to slow the Detroit Tigers down.

T.J. House

remains the weakest link in the staff, surviving only three innings–although he allowed only three runs on four hits. The good news is it appears

Michael Brantley

is getting back to healthy after his back issues. He collected four of the Tribe’s six hits. They clearly will need his bat this season as they scramble to find answers on offense.

Six players were suspended by Major League Baseball following the brawl between the Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox. For the Sox, Chris Sale and Jeff Samardzija each were suspended five games. Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura was suspended seven games, Edinson Volquez received five games, while outfielder Lorenzo Cain and righty Kelvin Herrera were each suspended two games. Those six, as well as White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers were all fined an undisclosed amount.

After the Cardinals lost Adam Wainwright in the fifth inning to an ankle injury, they called on Mitch Harris–a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, and the first to play in the Majors since 1921. It’s been seven years since he was drafted by Cardinals in the First Year Player Draft. He managed to fulfill his five-year service requirement to the Navy in the meantime–serving in the Persian Gulf and South America on the USS Ponce.
