Clevelinks: House Injured; Holt Called Up; Cleveland Indians out of Contention?

House out with shoulder inflammation; Tribe move to improve roster; Is it too late to make the postseason?

The Cleveland Indians lost T.J. House to the disabled list yesterday. The southpaw was starting his first full season in the rotation after winning a spot out of Spring Training. Across 18 starts last season, House pitched to a respectable 98 FIP-, and he neither stuck out nor walked many batters. This year has been a disaster for the 25-year-old, who has racked up a seven-to-twelve strikeout-to-walk ratio across just 13 innings of work. Hopefully, he will return to his 2014 form when he returns from the DL.

On the flip side of the injury, the Tribe called up Tyler Holt to aid the struggling Michael Bourn. Holt started the year in Triple-A after slashing .268/.307/.296 in 76 big league plate appearances last season. Posting a .438 on-base percentage and swiping five bags, Holt has been on fire at Triple-A this season. Hopefully, this heat can help to ignite a winning streak for the ailing Indians.

Speaking of starting a hot streak, Cody Norman looked at five rosters moves the Cleveland Indians should take as part of his Friday Five series. With an assortment of moves that shake-up both the pitching rotation and starting lineup, he has some suggestions with which many fans will agree and some others that are more controversial, namely calling up Francisco Lindor.

To carry on the topic of the Tribe’s struggles, Andrew Schmid asked if the Cleveland Indians are already out of contention. With last night’s loss, the Indians are now 7-14, meaning that in order to reach 90 wins, they will have to play .588 baseball. This dashing young fellow inspects the odds of such an occurrence happening.
