The Cleveland Indians are running into the St. Louis Cardinals at the worst time. The Cards are the best team in baseball, and they’re playing like it. The Indians couldn’t slow them down on Tuesday, as they dropped an 8-3 decision to the league’s best team.

Jason Kipnis and Michael Brantley continue to be at the core of the offense, as each had an RBI double as the Tribe fought back to within 4-3. But the Cardinals would put four more on the board, and of the eight runs scored, only four were earned. The Cards may be one of the best in the league, but the Tribes play in the field and performance at the plate must change and soon.

Is there a silver lining to this season somewhere we aren’t seeing? Of course. A lot can change in 130 games. Most teams won’t continue to play as well as they are, or in the case of the Tribe, as poorly as they have. It’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but this team isn’t as bad as the results have been.

The Tigers used a walk-off single in the 10th from Ian Kinsler to down the Twins 2-1 on Tuesday behind a stellar outing from Alfredo Simon. The free agent signing continues to be effective for the Tigers in the absence of Justin Verlander, as he’s 4-1 on the season.
