Tribe look to win series in finale against Sox

The Cleveland Indians are taking it one day at a time as they try to close the gap on teams ahead of them in the division. They can do that again tonight with a win against the Chicago White Sox, and will have to do it against a lefty for the fourth straight game. The Sox will send

John Danks

(2-3, 4.66) to the mound to take on

Danny Salazar

(4-1, 4.06). In his last outing, Salazar allowed seven runs against Texas in worst outing this year.

The Indians (16-23) have had good luck against Danks, as he’s 5-12 against the Tribe with a 5.16 ERA in 24 meetings. But he’s been good in his last two starts overall, surrendering just three runs and nine hits in 14 innings. On offense, he’ll look for Adam Eaton to remain hot, as he’s batting .350 during a nine-game hitting streak. Jose Abreu extended his streak to 15 games on Wednesday.

The White Sox (18-19) had won eight of nine before dropping the last two to the Tribe, and now look to stop the bleeding and keep the Indians from gaining any more ground. Salazar has been impressive since being recalled, but was roughed up in his last outing against Texas, but the Indians rallied for a 10-8 victory. The Tribe will get back Carlos Santana, who had missed the last four games with back spasms.

Tonight’s finale is scheduled for an 8:10 pm ET first pitch at U.S. Cellular Field.
