Rangers outlast Tribe in offensive showdown

The Cleveland Indians simply ran into a team just as hot as them in the Texas Rangers. Pitching was less than exceptional for both teams as neither starter was able to make it past the third inning. Back-to-back home runs from

started the offense for the day, and it never really let up after that.

hit a bomb, and

followed the next inning with a three-run shot as back and forth began. By the end of the third, the game was tied 7-7 and both starters were in the showers.

The Tribe had a late lead, but the bullpen was unable to hold it as the Rangers came back for the 10-8 win, ending the Indians six-game winning streak and moving their own streak to six. Jason Kipnis continues to have a spectacular May as he added an RBI-double in the loss. Shaun Marcum didn’t fare as well as he did in his first start, but pitching wasn’t much better all around.

In this week’s ‘Who’s Hot, Who’s Not?’, the list is a bit heavier on the hot side, but that happens when you win six-straight. Pitching headlines the group, and Kipnis has been a permanent fixture on the list all month. Click to see who else made cut.

The Tribe did, however, stay out of the cellar as the White Sox dropped their third in a row, losing to the Toronto Blue Jays 6-0. They’ve climbed out but are ahead of the Sox by only three-thousandths of a percent. Now that they’re out, they need to never return.
