Clevelinks: Cleveland Indians Explode for 12 Runs in Rout of Texas Rangers

Indians offense comes to life in blowout; Bullpen solutions?

Good pitching had been paramount during the Cleveland Indians winning streak, and it returned on Wednesday with

Carlos Carrasco

and his fine eight innings of work. The good news is that they didn’t necessarily need it as the offense erupted for 12 runs, 10 off of Rangers starter

Colby Lewis

. Everyone on the Tribe offense contributed, including three home runs total.

Lonnie Chisenhall

added three hits and was a triple short of the cycle while

Jason Kipnis

missed it by a home run.

All that offense overshadowed  the strong start of Carrasco, who struck out eight over his eight innings allowing just one run on five hits. While it proved to be of no consequence thanks to the Indians bats, Scott Atchinson did allow two runs in the ninth, continuing the story of struggled of the Indians bullpen.

Sticking with the bullpen, the Indians continue to try and find the right combination of arms (translated: guys who don’t give up runs every outing) as they claw their way back into the race. Our Katrina Putnam thinks it’s time the Indians consider Ryan Webb in the set-up role. He’s been their most reliable reliever this year but hasn’t faced many high-leverage situations. Should the Tribe consider Webb?

The New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez surpassed another milestone, although who he passed can be debated. Rodriguez passed Lou Gehrig on the all-time RBIs list. But the statistics for the RBI weren’t kept before 1920, so any of Babe Ruth‘s before that season weren’t counted by Elias, the official statistician of Major League Baseball. So his either third or fourth all-time, depending which lists you believe.
