Tribe make several roster moves, Kluber solid again

After a month to forget, the Cleveland Indians’

has returned to

form as he struck out 13 over seven innings in a win over the Seattle Mariners. The Indians gave him the run support he’s been lacking by scoring five including a

solo home run. The Mariners fought back to make it 5-3 on a

two-run home run, but Kluber and the bullpen would slam the door for the win.

Jason Kipnis remains on fire, going 2-for-4 on the evening and continuing his superb month of May. The bullpen was only called on for two innings, but Mark Rzepczynski and Cody Allen closed it out to give the Tribe a series-opening win.

The Tribe made several roster moves prior to yesterday’s game, including moving Carlos Santana to the paternity list after the birth of his daughter. They moved Scott Atchison moved to the 15-day DL. Austin Adams continued his shuttle run between Columbus and Cleveland, and Jerry Sands will take Santana’s spot on the roster.

With the welcome return of Yan Gomes, the Indians catching duties resume their normally scheduled programming. But Roberto Perez filled in admirably, and will make Gomes’ off day a little easier to stomach as our Merritt Rohlfing points out. Backup catcher isn’t a glorious position, but an important one indeed.
