Tribe drop third to KC with Kluber on the mound

, lost to the Kansas City Royals for the third time this season, dropping a 4-2 decision last night. Kluber hadn’t faced the Royals since his terrible April but found himself with little run support in an outing that wasn’t that bad statistically. In eight innings, he allowed four runs on nine hits while striking out nine. After the third inning, Kluber was locked in and surrendered little after that going the distance.

The Indians were unable to solve Jason Vargas, who made just his second start since returning from the DL. The Tribe outhit the Royals 10-9, but were unable to cash in on any opportunities. A Brandon Moss double drove in Ryan Raburn to tie the game at 1-1 in the third, while Mike Aviles knocked an RBI-single in the third to give them a short-lived 2-1 lead. Three doubles by the Royals in the third would do the rest of the damage as they coasted to the 4-2 win.

When a player has a historic achievement in the league, many times they hope to get the ball back from said accomplishment. Many times if it’s a fan, the player will persuade the fan to give up the ball for other memorabilia, autographs, etc. But what happens when your 100th career home run drops into your team’s bullpen? You just get the ball, right? Not so much. For Brandon Moss, the cost of that ball could get a little pricey.
