Cleveland Indians Ride Salazar’s Arm to Second Straight Over Rays

Tribe pitching again leads way, offense follows lead

The Cleveland Indians starting pitching looks a whole lot better when the offense is supporting it. For the second straight day, the Tribe’s starter took a no-hitter into the late innings while the offense did their part. Danny Salazar pitched with a no-no into the sixth and allowed just two runs (one earned) on two hits in 7 2/3 innings.

The Indians offense once again provided solid run support for their starter, cracking three home runs en route to a six-run output. Jason Kipnis managed just one hit, but he was part of the home run parade along with Giovanny Urshela and David Murphy.

The Indians signed their first round competitive balance pick Triston McKenzie this week, but for well over the slot value. It was believed it would take a solid bonus to get him to leave his commitment to Vanderbilt, and judging by the size of the bonus that may be true.
