Cleveland Indians: In-House Fixes; Who’s Hot, Who’s Not

Tribe have options, even without making deals

With a day off, the Cleveland Indians got a day to rest while the front office was likely assessing its place at the trade deadline. The Indians have pulled themselves to within shouting distance of the playoffs, and just 1 1/2 behind the Detroit Tigers for third in the AL Central. Will the Tribe pull the trigger on a big move? No. And even small moves may not be likely. But there are some in-house options they could look at for a boost down the stretch.

With such an up and down team, the “Who’s hot, who’s not” list is always shifting. There are your staples, such as Jason Kipnis who has etched himself as a permanent ‘hot’ this year. But who else makes the list? One thing is certain, we need to add a few to the hot list to make a run in the second half. Looking at you Brandon Moss.

The Tigers, just ahead of the Indians in the standings have entered seller status, or at least are listening as we approach the break. Two names that are on the table are David Price and Yoenis Cespedes. While the Indians don’t factor into the pursuit of these two, if dealt that would directly affect the Tribe as they try to chase down the Al Central crown.
