Cleveland Indians’ Trevor Bauer Serves Up Three Home Runs in Loss to White Sox

Sox crush four homers in route of Tribe

The Cleveland Indians‘ Trevor Bauer(8-7, 4.29) had been impressive against the Chicago White Sox this season, allowing just three runs over 20 1/3 innings entering tonight. Clearly the White Sox have figured him out as they crushed four home runs, including two from Melky Cabrera in the 8-1 win over the Tribe.

Jeff Samardzija (7-5, 3.91) may have made his last start for the White Sox (43-50), which is nothing new after he heard the same as each start passed near last year’s trade deadline before the Cub dealt him to Oakland. If that was the case, he only solidified his value with another stellar outing. He held the Indians (45-49) to just a run on four hits over eight solid innings.

Cabrera homered twice, once from each side of the plate as he drove in three runs for the Sox. Alexei Ramirez homered as well, a three-run shot off of Bauer in the fourth. Bauer has allowed 17 home runs already this season after allowing just 16 all of last year.

The pitching was a letdown for the Indians, but it wouldn’t have made much of a difference if Bauer had allowed just two as the offense could solve Samardzija. The lone RBI came from Francisco Lindor who drove in Michael Bourn with a single in the sixth inning. Bourn and Lindor accounted for all the Indians’ offense, collecting two hits apiece.

The Indians hope Corey Kluber (5-10, 3.38) has better luck in the second half as he faces the Sox Jose Quintana (4-9, 3.83) tomorrow in game two of the series.
