Cleveland Indians: Second Half Slide Shows No Signs of Slowing

Indians slide continues; Trade talks still ongoing

There doesn’t seem to be any immediate relief to the Cleveland Indians poor start to the second half. The Tribe fell to the division-leading Kansas City Royals 9-4 on Monday as their losing streak hit five, and it was their seventh loss in a row at home. Cody Anderson struggled for the second consecutive start, but as a rookie pitcher that’s to be expected. As the trade deadline nears, their role in it is becoming more apparent with each passing game.

Trade rumors continue to paint the Indians landscape, as it was reported that a trade between the Blue Jay and Indians for Carlos Carrasco was very close before falling through at the finish line. It has also surfaced that the Tribe have inquired about the Brewers Carlos Gomez as well. I have more on my opinion of why Gomez isn’t a great idea, former All-Star or not.

David Murphy is one of the few attractive position players that the Indians have, and he’s drawing interest from several teams who would love a left-handed bad down the stretch. Our Matt Bretz took a deep look at some of his potential landing spots, as well as Murphy’s chances of staying in Cleveland.
