Moss to Cards to top prospect; Tribe top Royals behind Kluber’s gem

Wednesday was a bit of an anomaly for the Cleveland Indians. Corey Kluber pitched like Corey Kluber generally does, but this time the offense supported him–showing what this team is capable of but rarely provides. For the second game in a row, the Indians starter went the distance after Trevor Bauer was the hard-luck loser in the previous game. But this time the Tribe provided 18 hits and four home runs in support of Kluber, who hasn’t gotten this much all year.

The Indians remain active in trades this seasons, this time dealing Brandon Moss to the Cardinals for their top pitching prospect, Rob Kaminsky. Moss has struggled in Cleveland, but the Cards have a definite need with first baseman Matt Adams already out, and now Matt Holliday headed back to the DL. In Kaminsky, the Tribe received the Cards No. 5 overall prospect and top pitcher–a much better return than they received on the David Murphy deal.

Yesterday marked the sixth anniversary of the trade of Cliff Lee to the Philadelphia Phillies. At the time, most fans were furious they could trade a pitcher like Lee, but looking back–how well did the trade work out for each team? Our Matt Bretz took a look back to see how it panned out for both teams.

It’s been a rough year, with not very many bright spots to talk about. But out Andrew Schmid thinks there are a few Indians ready to break out in the month of August. Who might be primed for a solid month? And will it be enough to make a difference in the standings?
