Cleveland Indians Win in Extras Behind Another Stellar Start

Indians streak of stellar pitching continues in win vs. Angels

The Cleveland Indians would like to move that bullpens are abolished and starters must go the distance–or close to it. It’s  starting to become the norm these days, as Carlos Carrasco pitched nine shutout innings, but the Tribe offense needed a few extra innings to supply the support for the win. Giovanny Urshela‘s two-run home run in the 12th help the Tribe to a 2-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

The Indians’ have solidified that the future will be built around their pitching. The only issue is how to bring in some offense? Pitching is their most viable option to get any value, but that would defeat the purpose. The free agent market hasn’t been good to the Tribe, or at least the front office hasn’t made good decisions within the market. But is it possible that Michael Bourn could be playing his way into a possible waiver deadline trade?

The division rival Detroit Tigers had a bit of a shake-up as Dave Dombrowski was “fired” from his GM position. The Tigers have had a solid run of success, but none of it culminating with a World Series trophy. Owner Mike Illitch actually “released” Dombrowski from his contract, allowing him to pursue other opportunities. Al Avila will take over as Tigers GM.
