Cleveland Indians Get Another CG as Corey Kluber Goes the Distance

It’s going to become news when the Cleveland Indians’ starter DOESN’T pitch a complete game. Corey Kluber took a no-hitter into the seventh inning en route to a three-hit complete game. Abraham Almonte continues to make a strong first impression as he hit his second home run in as many days. The Tribe is amazingly just 3 1/2 games out of second place in what has become a weak AL Central. Good play down the stretch could help seal at least a moral victory with a respectable finish in the standings. 

Speaking of the weak division, the rich get richer and the poor..well, you know. The Royals continue to run away with the division as they beat the Chicago White Sox 5-4 to increase their lead to 11 1/2 games over the second-place Twins. Once again it was the Royals’ bullpen that helped lead the sweep over the White Sox.

With all the new faces, skipper Terry Francona feels like the “team” atmosphere was in the building this weekend. Maybe with the new faces and the naivety to the Indians struggles can help the team come together over the last few months and make some positive steps towards 2016.

As bad as it’s seemed this season, the Tribe isn’t one of the worst teams at the three-quarter mark of the season. A few good weeks good trend them up to the middle of the pack. But a bad week could be just as detrimental. Where do the stand so far among the rest of the league?
