Tribe walk-off in 16th on Brantley’s RBI single, win third in a row

A season is never “over” like the fans and media sometimes portray it. The Cleveland Indians could be 30 games out of first, and they wouldn’t tell you it was over. Suddenly, they’re playing like it isn’t over. The Tribe won their third straight thanks to an RBI single from Michael Brantley, scoring Jose Ramirez as they beat the AL East-leading New York Yankees 5-4 on Tuesday night.

They handed the Yankees Andrew Miller his first blown save of the season while Carlos Carrasco came up short on his third straight complete game. He did, however, pitch eight solid innings, striking out eight and walking none in taking a no-decision. The White Sox won, so the Tribe remains a game behind them in the standings.

The early returns on the moves made at the deadline have been positive as the Indians have won three-straight and have an offense that seems to know what to do with runners on base. While there is clearly still work to be done, did the Indians make smart moves to leave themselves in a position to succeed next season?
