Cleveland Indians: Fall is in the Air and Call-Ups are on the Way

Frankie baby! Plus Shapiro’s worst deals; and even more reason for hope?

Depending where you’re at, it probably doesn’t feel like fall–but the baseball calendar is beginning to say otherwise. The Cleveland Indians added a few more names to the roster in calling up Giovanni Soto and Michael Martinez for September roster expansion. Soto adds a much-needed LHP to the bullpen while Martinez will add a veteran utilityman to the fold. As the Tribe try to chase down a longshot playoff spot, every little bit will help.

When Francisco Lindor finally got the call this year, the idea was that he would provide improved defense while “learning on the job” at the plate. Lindor has learned well. So well in fact it’s hard not to toss his name in the hat for American League Rookie of the Year. His biggest foe may be the Astros’ Carlos Correa, who are matching his production with wins in leading their division.

With Mark Shapiro out, we’ve been reflecting on what he’s done in his time with the Indians. was it good, bad? There’s a little of both, but let’s look at some of the worst moves that Shapiro made in his time in Cleveland. Warning, some may spark up nostalgia and anger so be prepared as we look at his five worst moves.

And also, while we don’t like the Tigers–we don’t like you either Kansas City so just knock off all this winning. You’ve done enough to prove your point.
