Cleveland Indians: Team Twitter Account Has Some Fun at Fans Expense

Want to play some ball at Progressive? Nah, just kidding.

Social media is at the center of almost everything now–especially in sports. The Cleveland Indians Twitter account decided to have a little fun with the fans on a nice fall day in Cleveland by offering to play some baseball with the first 18 people that showed up at the right field gate. Shortly after that tweet came the “just kidding”, but not everybody was happy with the joke. But it shows the Indians Twitter handle is one to keep an eye on through the winter.

Abraham Almont came over at the trade deadline without much expectation tagging along with him. Without the pressure, Almonte performed above expectations. While not a long-term solution, he may have at least played himself into the mix in 2016–even more so with Michael Brantley being out till at least after Opening Day. With David Murphy gone and Ryan Raburn a free agent, Almonte should get a chance to see a fair amount of time next season.

ICYMI: We looked at what the world of qualifying offers means, and how it affects the Indians in free agency. Most QO numbers seem inflated–especially for a team like Cleveland looking to add players on a slim budget–and could hurt them as they try to build around what they have. It can be frustrating, but it’s the hand that they’re dealt.
