Cleveland Indians Roundup: Hagadone Signs with Milwaukee

facebooktwitterreddit

Former Cleveland Indians’ reliever Nick Hagadone signed a minor league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers, essentially the same deal he was offered by the Tribe.

After the Cleveland Indians signing of Collin Cowgill, they DFA’d reliever Nick Hagadone instead of going to arbitration. Hagadone has been inconsistent as well as injury prone as every season has been cut short. The left took the same deal that the Indians were offering. With several new additions in the bullpen, the Indians should be able to survive the loss of Hagadone.

Mike Napoli passed his physical, and the official announcement is expected sometime this week. Napoli is expected to take over first base, with Carlos Santana getting most of his at-bats in the DH spot. Once an All-Star catcher, he would also be a formidable emergency option if necessary, although he hasn’t caught since 2012.

ICYMI: Mike Aviles signed a one-year deal with the Tigers, much to the dismay of some Indians’ fans. The fan favorite played through so much in 2015, including his daughter being treated for leukemia. The Indians chose not to trade him during the season, allowing him to be near his family while she wat treated at the Cleveland Clinic.
