was optioned to Triple-A over the All-Star break. Crockett has spent parts of the last three seasons with the big league club with varying degrees of success. He’s appeared in 11 games with the Indians this year though only 3 2/3 innings as he was used almost exclusively as a left-handed matchup guy. Unfortunately for Crockett lefties hit .385 off him albeit in just 15 plate appearances. With the Columbus Clippers this year Crockett has appeared in 26 games, throwing 27 1/3 innings. he’s struck out 22 and held opponents to a .241 batting average against.

He did not make an appearance and will return to Columbus to work as a starter.

Yan Gomes Officially to Disabled List

The Indians have also officially placed catcher Yan Gomes on the 15-day disabled list and activated Roberto Perez from the 60-day.  The move was expected given Gomes was diagnosed with a separated shoulder following an awkward tumble at first base in Sunday’s game.  The Tribe has announced that surgery is not on the table at this time but he’ll be out  four to eight weeks with the injury. The good news is that shouldn’t end his season though the bad news is it could take him beyond the minor league season making a rehab assignment tough.

Perez will join Chris Gimenez as the backstops on the Tribe roster. Perez is getting the start tonight in Kansas City batting ninth. He figures to get the lion share of the duties with Gimenez remaining the backup. With Perez’s activation, it leaves Michael Brantley as the lone position player on the disabled list. Brantley is joined by pitchers Zach McAllister and Tommy Hunter.
