The Cleveland Indians are headed to the World Series after an improbable run, drawing parallels to one of the most iconic Cleveland movies ever made.

The Cleveland Indians went to the World Series in 1995 and 1997, but those rosters were a bit more stacked than the one assembled in 2016. There was also the lack of countless injuries that made some count the team out before the postseason even began.

The last time the Indians were on this much of an underdog run was in a parallel universe known as the film world, in the film Major League.

The ragtag bunch that brought fictional Cleveland baseball back to prominence is still a major part of being an Indians fan in the real world, as one could easily name off the iconic players from that roster that still exists in our hearts.

But the most iconic is Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn, portrayed by the mild-mannered Charlie Sheen. Out of context, it is rather interesting that Sheen is one of the most remembered pitchers in Indians history, with Vaughn jerseys not being an odd site at any Indians game.

Vaughn had a rough start to his career, but was able to become a shutdown pitcher and make the crowd go wild when he emerged from the bullpen.

Andrew Miller seems to have the same effect on Cleveland fans in 2016. Whenever he comes out of the bullpen, the fans know they are in for a show of sheer dominance.

Miller also had a rough start to his career, but has remade himself into one of the best relievers in all of baseball. All he needs to do is come out to “Wild Thing” to make the crowd at Progressive Field go absolutely insane come Tuesday night. That, or Sheen needs to throw out the first pitch as Vaughn. The love for a fictional pitcher may confuse the opposing players, but no outsider would understand. Only Indians fans receive true, unparalleled joy from this scene.

While fans in Cleveland used to joke about bringing Vaughn out of the ‘pen in the past, the Indians now have Miller as the go-to option in any situation when the team has a lead. Whether that be in the fifth or the ninth inning, he is ready to go and strike out opposing hitters with ease.

Fans have been gifted with some amazing pitching this postseason, so hopefully that will continue into the World Series. Nothing would be better than the scene of Miller striking out an opposing batter to clinch a World Series title. Ricky Vaughn would finally be topped, and that is no easy thing to do.
