A.M. Wahoo’s: Indians Cap Off Historic Night in Cleveland

October 25, 2016 will go down as one of the most memorable days in Cleveland sports history thanks to wins by the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Tuesday was a special day in Cleveland.

Less than an hour after the Cleveland Cavaliers received their championship rings and kicked off the 2016-17 NBA season, the Cleveland Indians kicked off another title quest.

And in keeping up with how 2016 has gone, both teams gave fans more to cheer about on a chilly night in Cleveland. The Cavaliers pulled off a blowout victory over the New York Knicks, while the Indians did the same against the Chicago Cubs.

Things got started early for the Indians, as a 2-0 lead gained in the first inning was held until the end of the game. With runs batted in on an infield single and a hit batter, the Indians continue to prove they can win in countless different ways. Although having Corey Kluber and Andrew Miller pitch seems to be the best formula for success.

The Indians obviously still need three more wins to win the franchise’s first title since 1948, but winning Game 1 is always a positive, both morally and historically.

But even though it’s just one game, the Indians contributed to one of the greatest days in Cleveland sports history. The hype surrounding the day began building once the Indians defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS, and October 25, 2016 did not disappoint.

The Cavaliers did their part, but it was the Indians who were responsible for making it a truly great day, and they did just that. It is a special day when LeBron James is right across the street but Roberto Perez has the most notable performance in town.

Today’s game is moved up to 7 p.m. thanks to some impending bad weather, so let’s hope the Indians can get an early lead and get another win before the possible storms arrive.
