A.M. Wahoo’s: A Confident Cleveland Before Game 6

Thanks to the changing narrative surrounding Cleveland sports, it is hard to be anything but confident about the Cleveland Indians’ chances of winning the World Series.

In the past, the inability to close out a series may scare Cleveland Indians fans. But this is 2016, so anything is possible.

The Cleveland Cavaliers gave the city a newfound sense of hope after coming back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. The Indians held a 3-1 lead of their own, but fans aren’t worrying about the Chicago Cubs winning three in a row. At least not yet.

The Cavaliers gave fans confidence that a title could indeed be won in Cleveland, and that curses are nothing more than fiction.

The Indians have already done the impossible by making it this far, so one more win seems like destiny at this point. And with Josh Tomlin taking the mound in Game 6 in front of the home crowd at Progressive Field, fans should be confident in the team’s ability to finish off the Cubs. They are called the lovable losers for a reason.

And if the team is unable to get it done tonight, Corey Kluber is set to start a potential Game 7. But hopefully it does not get to that point, although the national media sure wouldn’t mind based on the pro-Cubs coverage being put out in the past week.

But fans know it is Cleveland against the world, and unfortunately for Cubs fans, no one in Northeast Ohio cares much about a 108-year title drought.

The stress levels in both Cleveland and Chicago are sure to be high tonight as November baseball makes its return, although the weather in Cleveland is reminiscent of a nice September day. Maybe it’s a sign of great things to come.
