Today marks the first full week of the MLB offseason for the Cleveland Indians after losing in the World Series less than a week ago.

Cleveland has suffered heartbreak before, but it also hurts most right after the fact.

The Cleveland Indians are the latest team to suffer an emotional defeat, falling to the Chicago Cubs after holding a 3-1 lead.

The Indians entered the series as underdogs, but the 3-1 lead makes it that much harder to accept. If the Indians had been swept, or even lost the series 4-1, fans could have accepted that the Cubs were simply the better team.

But that scenario is obviously not the case. Rajai Davis gave fans one of the greatest moments in Indians history, but it was not enough for a team who will be wondering what could have been had the whole team been healthy, specifically the pitching staff.

As is always the case with Cleveland teams, there is always next year, although this year will continue to be remembered as one of heartbreak and disappointment for a franchise seeking its first championship since 1948.

As time goes on, the season will likely be remembered as one of the best in team history. The players will be celebrated for what they accomplished and the joy they brought to the entire city. Given the team can make it back to the playoffs next year, the heartbreak of this year may even be remembered as the motivation for a title in 2017.

The offseason is now in full force, but it will be hard for Indians fans to begin thinking about anything other than the World Series loss for the next few months. For now, let’s take a look at the news surrounding the Indians and the rest of the MLB in today’s edition of A.M. Wahoo’s.
