The 2017 Cleveland Indians preseason is underway in Arizona, so we joined the Open Mike Program to discuss the upcoming regular season.

Today is the final day of February, meaning the Cleveland Indians are one day closer to starting the 2017 regular season.

It has been a long wait since the way the season ultimately ended last November, but the beginning of spring training has helped to begin the process of moving forward.

This time of year also allows us to preview the upcoming season, which I did Monday night as part of the Open Mike Program, hosted by Michael Cohen.

We talked everything from the big offseason signings to how the Indians will fare in the AL Central, so be sure to listen to hear the entire discussion.

The 2017 season may be the most exciting Indians season to preview in a long time, as the team enters the year as a legitimate World Series contender. It was fun in the past to say the Indians were going to win 95 games, but it is actually a realistic mark this year. And 95 may even be at the low-end of what is possible.

A lot of the talks during any Indians preview will focus on the addition of Edwin Encarnacion to the team, but he is only one part of what will make the Indians great in 2017. Players like Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez will only get better, while a healthy starting rotation may put up numbers not seen by an Indians staff in years. There are also players like Brandon Guyer, Carlos Santana, and Jason Kipnis who will be major keys to the team’s success all season.

It is going to be an exciting year regardless of what happens, so be sure to check out the podcast to hear my take on the upcoming season.
