Cleveland Indians pitcher Corey Kluber pitched a lot in the 2016 postseason, but he remains on schedule to begin the 2017 season.

Some Cleveland Indians fans may have been worried about Corey Kluber heading into the 2017 regular season. He had a somewhat late start to spring training, but it was just to give him some extra time to come back. There were no injuries to be had.

Kluber was expected to be the Opening Day starter for the Indians, and that remains true, according to Jordan Bastian.

This is great news for Indians fans who are looking for the team to get off to a hot start, while also remaining healthy throughout the year.

Kluber has remained a constant for this team when others have gone down with injuries, and that should continue to hold true in 2017. Starting on Opening Day allows him to potentially have another season in which he eclipses the 200-inning mark, although it would be nice to keep him right around or just below that number. A dominant bullpen should help with that.

It will also be interesting to see if Kluber remains the ace all season, or if a healthy Carlos Carrasco can assume that role as we approach October. Danny Salazar could also be in consideration for that title.

However, all that matters is that the team has three legitimate aces, so whoever is called upon in the postseason should be able to perform at a high level. Yet there is a long way to go before that point, and Indians fans know they are in great hands every five days when Corey Kluber takes the mound.
