A recent FanSided article ranked the best player on every MLB team, and the Cleveland Indians are represented by a rising star.

Cleveland Indians fans must not take this current stretch of baseball for granted. A World Series run in 2016 has set the team up for several more years of being legitimate title contenders.

This has been made possible thanks to great work by the front office done both in the draft and through free agency.

But perhaps the greatest decision of them all came when the team drafted Francisco Lindor in 2011. He has quickly risen up to become one of the best players not only in the organization, but in the entire league.

A recent FanSided article ranked the best player on every MLB team, and Lindor came in as the choice for the Indians. From the article:

"The Indians are deep with talent, as shown by their run to the World Series last year, so it’s hard to showcase one player as clearly the best of the bunch for manager Terry Francona. But Lindor has locked down an important position on the diamond right away upon his arrival, and he is in line to do so for Cleveland indefinitely into the future."

Andrew Miller and Corey Kluber could have been fair competition to Lindor for this ranking, but he may take the nod due to him playing everyday.

The most recent news surrounding Lindor dealt with him reportedly turning down a contract extension this past offseason, but fans should not worry, as he is still under team control through 2021.

It was also smart of him to turn down such an extension, as his value will only continue to rise as time passes.

This doesn’t mean he is going to leave, but rather the Indians must pay him fair value for his superstar services.

He likely won’t even consider discussing any further contract talks until the offseason, so fans must relax and realize the Indians aren’t going to let their best player walk without offering him a fair deal. And that is several years down the road anyway, so he will remain a star in Cleveland for the foreseeable future.
