On a day when ESPN is cutting an immense amount of talent, baseball fans may have to go elsewhere for national coverage.

With the Indians being in the spotlight as one of the top teams in the league, Thome will surely be asked to give his opinion on his former team.
It will be nice to have an unofficial representative of the Indians on MLB Network, but it will also be nice to hear Thome’s take on the rest of the league.
He was a valued member of several organizations during his tenure in MLB, so his opinion carries weight when he speaks about the game.
Thome has been serving as an assistant in the Chicago White Sox front office for the past several years, but it would not be surprising if he got into a managerial role one day.
Being able to share his baseball knowledge on television should only help build his case for a job in the dugout later on. And if he does want to take that route, it would be awesome to see him don an Indians uniform once again, the same way Sandy Alomar Jr. has done as the team’s first base coach.

Thome being a manager may be several years down the road, but for now it will be awesome to be able to get his take on the game on a regular basis.
