The Cleveland Indians had a slow start, but have bounced back to make April a successful month in the quest for another AL Central title.

The Cleveland Indians have given fans plenty to cheer about, and plenty to worry about all in the span of the first month of the season.

It started off with a bang when the team swept the Texas Rangers to open the year, only to follow that up by getting swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks later that week.

The most critical part of the month, for fans not for the players, came on April 15 when the Indians dropped to 5-7. The team was likely not worried since they are professional players and understand the ups and downs of the season, but some fans may have been scared.

The Indians have bounced back to enter today’s game with a record of 13-10, with a chance to finish off the second homestand of the season with a record of 4-2.

The mark of 13 wins currently has the Indians tied with the surging Chicago White Sox for the most wins in the division, although the White Sox have a half-game lead with one less loss.

Regardless of whether the Indians end today in first place or not, a winning record in April has the Indians set to take command of the AL Central in May. The White Sox have won six games in a row to reach their current mark, but that will be tough to sustain.

Add in a Kansas City Royals team that is bottoming out and a Minnesota Twins team that seems to be a .500 team at best and the main competition is the Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers did take two of three against the Indians two weeks ago, but it is clear the Indians are the most talented team in the division once again.

It is interesting that the Indians have several players working through slumps and are still 13-10 as the month is set to come to a close.

The amount of talent all over the roster helps compensate when a few players are struggling, meaning there is no cap to this team’s potential once players like Edwin Encarnacion and Corey Kluber get back to playing at elite levels.
