The Cleveland Indians had another losing week, causing the team to drop three spots in the most recent edition of FanSided’s MLB power rankings.

The Cleveland Indians are off today after losing yet another series.

The Indians went 2-4 last week, losing series to both the Tampa Bay Rays and the Minnesota Twins. That came after a series loss to the Toronto Blue Jays last week.

This recent slide has seen the Indians drop to the No. 10 spot in the most recent edition of FanSided’s MLB power rankings.

From the article:

"There is legitimate reason to be worried about the Cleveland rotation. Salazar may never be the same pitcher after dealing with injuries last year. He is piling up strikeouts, but is failing to limit hard contact and command his pitches with any regularity. Trevor Bauer and Josh Tomlin were the weak links entering the regular season, and have done nothing to change that perception. Finally, Corey Kluber may be dealing with a World Series hangover after being pushed to the limit last fall."

More from Away Back Gone

The starting rotation has indeed been horrible as of late, and Corey Kluber‘s absence has done nothing to help. The bullpen is still dominant, but Andrew Miller and Cody Allen aren’t being given opportunities to close out games.

That also falls on the offense, which continues to struggle to score more than three or four runs in a game.

The only real highlight from the past week was the debut of Bradley Zimmer, who had a great game on Wednesday, even though the team couldn’t pull out a victory.

With the way the offense is playing, young guys in the minors will be given opportunities if the main talent can’t figure it out at the plate, because this team is actively chasing a title. That means there isn’t room for those serving as sure outs in the lineup.

The good news is that the Indians are still above the .500 mark and it is not even June. So while there is no need to panic, the Indians do need to see better performances from both the starting rotation and the lineup.
